The petrochemical industry has come under some scrutiny lately as world leaders debate the role that fossil fuels have on the global climate and climate change. What is often times overlooked in this debate is the economic contributions of the petrochemical industry and the many different products beyond oil and gas that have petrochemicals as a primary building block. The world continues to focus on the impact that fossil fuel consumption has on environmental conditions.

BAMBOO demonstration activities will take place in the Tupras petrochemical site, in Turkey. Here, the objective is twofold:

• generating electricity from waste heat source in the refinery, will be developed in this project, which combines refinery expertise of Tüpraş and the expertise of leading organizations of Europe in energy systemstake a significant step in increasing energy efficiency
• and reducing carbon emissions.

The petrochemicals industry has evolved out of oil and gas processing by adding value to low value by-products, which have limited use in the fuels industry.
